With a whole pack of extras and neat touches, the Tiger Explorer has unlimited rugged style. All of the basics have been thoroughly proven on the Explorer. Like the 1215 three-cylinder engine with its broad spread of torque, shaft drive, long fuel range, and then there is the class-leading handling and the genuine off-road ability. You still get the high levels of sophisticated rider aids too, like switchable ABS, traction control, and cruise control.
The Tiger Explorer gets Triumph’s big, proven 1215cc triple, built with modern technology to be strong and dependable with the low maintenance levels you need on long adventures. You get plenty of power and torque out of the TEX, with a hefty 137PS and 121Nm. The torque is usable low down in the rev range where you need it most. Double overhead camshafts operate 4 valves per cylinder allows the bike to do what it needs to do even when fully loaded with rider, passenger, and a full compliment of luggage, facing a steep mountain climb. The rugged 6 speed transmission has an exceptionally smooth and tough shaft drive, capable of dealing with the shocks and knocks that you take when you ride off-road. Designed to be as tough as the rest of the Explorer, the fuel injection is controlled by a ride-by-wire throttle system using computer control to give you the torque you need in the most efficient, practical way.
The extra tough tubular steel frame is made to deal with the stresses of off-road riding while fully loaded with gear. The front suspension allows for 190mm of travel, and the single rear shock provides 194mm of travel and features a hydraulic remote preload adjuster and adjuster rebound damping. Braking is looked after by a pair of 4 piston calipers and twin 305mm discs at the front and a single rear disc, all controlled by our advanced switchable electronic ABS system. Light weight rims with tubeless tires make give the Explorer an added degree of usability too.
As a serious all-weather rider you need to use lots of electrical devices, so the electrical system of the Tiger Explorer is powered by a class leading 950W alternator, plenty of juice for you to use for heated grips, heated seat, heated clothing, extra lights, chargers, GPS, you name it.
Every new Triumph Motorcycle comes with a 2 year unlimited mile warranty, and Scoot Richmond offers a myriad of options when it comes to extended warranties and prepaid maintenance contracts.
The fuel tank holds 5.3 gallons of gas, and the Explorer gets approximately 45-68mpg. The 2015 Tiger Explorer is available in Graphite Grey and Cranberry Red.
